How to Embed Affiliate Link Codes In Banners and Pictures
Downloading and Saving Your Affiliate Promo Banners and Pictures
The first step I recommend taking is to grab your affiliate banners and/or pictures that have been supplied to you by the vendor.
Most vendors that are on top of the game will have these readily available for you to use.
In many cases they will already have your affiliate ID embedded into the art work. However, you will want to cloak that ID in an effort to hide your link code from the link thieves out there.
Let start out with saving the pictures and banners that are associated with the product offerings.
Step 1:
Look in the affiliate tools section from your vendor and grab the pictures and banners that make sense to you to put on your site.
You will simply right click on the artwork and then click "Save As"
Once you do that, save the artwork in your picture files or wherever it is you like to access from. I personally use my pictures files.
Step 2:
Upload your artwork to your website. I use Filezilla to do this. If you do not know how to use an FTP upload, I have other tutorials to show you how to use one.
Cloaking Your Affiliate Code
I cloak all of my codes and turn them into an html extension on my site.
This not only protects your commissions but will also be more appealing to the visitors on your site that may be interested in purchasing the product you have to offer.
There are two ways you can do this. You can either create the code yourself or you can use a software cloaking program. I use software to do this simply because it saves time and has ultra secure codes that can not get hacked.
Here is an example of doing it yourself: " This is sort of a time thief for me but I want to show how to do it in case you do not want to use a software program.
Step 1:
Create a new folder on your desktop and give it a name. You can name it whatever you want. Most folks will use either the name "go" or "recommends"
Step 2:
Open the folder and then right click and hit the "create new text document" link.
Step 3:
Rename the text document to whatever name you want that will reflect the product you are promoting.
Step 4:
Create the code as illustrated here:
<php? header("location "http://YOUR AFFILATE CODE GOES HERE");
?>
Step 4:
Click on the File drop down menu and click "save"
Step 5:
Highlight the file extension and rename the extension from .txt to .php and click save.
Step 6:
Upload the folder to your site.
Step 7:
Check your new link to make sure it is working properly.
Your new link will now look something like this..
http://yoursite/thenameofyourfile/yourextensionname.php
Software:
I recommend PLC It saves tons of time and keep your links form getting "link jacked".
Embedding Your Affiliate Codes In Your Banners and Pictures
So now that you have your banners and pictures saved, your affiliate links cloaked and uploaded, you will now put it all together on your website.
As of the writing of this article, I have created a 3 part video tutorial to show you exactly how to get it all put together.
These are on me at no cost to the Hubber's and new visitors.
